Herbold recovering from facility fire
Recycling machinery maker Herbold Meckesheim GmbH has begun the process of rebuilding after a fire that struck its Meckesheim, Germany, facility on Sept. 10. In a post on the Herbold Meckesheim USA website, the company praised efforts by the approximately 150 firefighters who contained the fire and preserved most of the facility.
The company began working to restore production capabilities immediately after the fire. The most severe damage was in the test materials storage and parts warehousing areas. The company warned that customers may experience some inconvenience, but said it is committed to maintaining the service they expect.
In a website update, the company announced that it has shipped the first unit that was completed in the weeks following the fire, and expects to soon equal or exceed the production levels that it had maintained prior to suffering the fire.
